“Songs for Victory: Music for Political Action,” was released by Asch Records in 1944 and includes folk and protest songs. The image on the cover shows three young faces—of a white man, a white woman, and a black man—standing side by side and staring ahead. Asch Records was operated by Moe Asch and released compilations of traditional American music, as well as music by younger members of the folk music revival. In 1948, Asch started Folkways Records in New York City, releasing over two thousand albums of world and American folk music over nearly four decades.
